SPEED: It wasn't long before I found out that most karaoke people were in a serious hurry to get their disks. We joke that they must be performing brain surgery with those disks. We soon found that your main concern isn't price but speed. Now we actually drive the disks to the post office at the Louisville airport every night. We also have a larger inventory of disks than most other karaoke stores. 147,000 to be exact. This cuts down on the backordered disks. And unlike many other mail-order companies we ship every disk the day that we get the order.

RETURN POLICY: The vast majority of karaoke dealers have a no return policy. Period. Since we are actually a karaoke rental company on the local level, we don't care if the disk has been opened. We will take it back if you don't like it. (Within 30 days) All we have to do is stick it in our rental department.
If you are not happy, we are not happy. PERIOD!

At doowop.com we feel that it is our civic duty to lend support to many cultural events.
 

SELECTION: Again because we are a rental company, we have old disks that no one else has access to. Sound Choice in North Carolina refers callers looking for hard-to-get disks, to us. We can resurface old rental disks and guarantee them to play like a new disk. We also bought-out Pioneer when they stopped making disks. So we have Pioneer disks that no one else has access to. (DVD and CDG). In addition to this we are dedicated to stocking not only the hottest selling disks, but also the "red headed stepchild" disks that nobody else much wants.

WE WANT YOU TO HAVE WHAT YOU WANT, NOT WHAT WE NEED TO SELL: Many karaoke stores push packages and the hottest new releases. You almost can't find the search engine to look for "Green Tambourine" by the Lemon Pipers. We feature our search engine and it is set up to look for songs and artists. The list that it produces is a list of songs. You can then click on view to see what else is on the disk. Many sites just want to sell sell sell. We are service orientated. We want your order for Greek Favorites and our competition drops Greek Favorites because they didn’t sell a hundred the first week.

Here is an interesting fact about Doo Wop Shop that should tell you a lot about who we are: We have 4 current employees (Mary, Nick, Kara and Bill) that originally came to work with their moms when they were newborn babies. And one* of these employees is planning to bring her new baby to work with her in March . (Ok, two of the 4  are my kids, but two of them are not related to the Doo Wop family. ) We will have a total of 4 generations of Doo Wops coming to work at the same office.

(Note from owner (pictured above at Woodstock in 1969 all ready 54) . I really was at Woodstock. My band was playing in
up state New York and I DROVE PAST IT on the way to the next town. I was stuck in the traffic with thousands of
concert goers wrapped in blankets in the rain. I had no idea of what was going on . And did not go to the actual concert.
The guys here tease me about the story and made this montage as a cruel and unusual joke.

Just so you know I also took my soon to be wife to see Bob Dylan in Memphis in 73. (as a birthday surprise)
As we were leaving, the marquee said that Elvis was going to be there the next night. I later found out
that she didn't like Dylan but really loved Elvis. So when you see a picture of me at an
Elvis concert in 73 in Memphis...... Didn't happen.

Ok this is the About Us page . All we can think about right now is Cicadas. Louisville has like 10 Billion of them * that just hatched. And they stink and they make a great deal of noise. (I shoveled an entire garbage can full of Cicadas in two days from my back yard. ) Fish are no longer biting . And they keep crawling up your pants legs. Here's a hint: we used one of our DB meters on them and got 85.5 DB @ 10 meters. Imagine the recorded sound (without the birds chirping) at 85 DB. I got this recording at dusk after they had piped down some. * Ok in my back yard I have 20 cicada holes per sq foot of yard and I have a big yard. I bet that I have over a million .

Karaoke missions to the world?

Now I ask you would have any of our competitors rent a hot air balloon or steamboat? Sponsor Big Time Wrestling? Rent a Humongous Billboard? This sort of thing costs money !!! Somebody Buy a disk!!! No! buy a Boatload of disks!!! Who knows next we may rent a bridge and hang that banner from it, or an elephant !!! Who knows?

Well I am from Kentucky and have several relatives that live in Shelby County Ky in actual trailers. This picture is a picture of Gretchen Wilson ( the little girl that sang the number one hit in the US " Redneck Woman) . The problem with the picture is that Number one: that is a travel trailor or a camping trailor that you would tow behind your card to take a vacation.
(I know this because I lived in a 14 ft travel trailor for two years when I was on the road with a band in the 70s (yes I was at Woodstock))

People that live in trailers live in great big double wide trailors that would have to be toed by a Tractor Trailer (18 wheeler type truck)
Also to be honest this whole 'trailer trash' thing is really unfair. Just because a house is made in a factory and assembled on site , dose not mean that it is somehow inferior to a house that is built on the site itself. I have been in plenty of houses that are not anywhere as nice as a newer double wide.

Number two there are no Christmas lights on the Porch (ok there isn't a porch)

Bad news on the Sulton of Swing: It seems to be available only of packs.

2nd message: Wow was I ever wrong. First of all the stupid disk arrived in a regular paper envelope (with a broken plastic case) . And the dirty (deleted)s didn't charge shipping but they charged my credit card an $8 handling fee !!! Boy am I steamed! Oh yea and they 'don't offer a return policy' PS sorry I was such a 'jerk' :-)

Our responce to a customer's email : Thank you for the heads up. I do need to clear one little thing up. We are the very first in the country to have any new release. period. We have the new releases next day air freighted to us from the manufacturers. For instance if you order a 6416 from us and say a company in central Florida at the same time , when it comes out you will get ours about 3 days before you get the one from them.

If you order the Star disc from us and them on the same day you will get the star disc 3 days sooner from us. But it will come about two months sooner than the same song on either Sound Choice or Music Maestro.

I was getting the impression from your note that you thought some other dealer was getting these disks before us . Ain't happening.

We also sell subscriptions where you get the stardisks when they come out automaticly (yes they are returnable) . We actually will do that with any brand.

We add disks every day to the database. I am going to suggest that you do a
search on the word 'silly' about once a week.

We don't have a way to alert you when a certain song becomes available but
that is a great idea and we will try to figure out a way to do it in the
future.

Again about those 'other sites' we have had reports of some of those 'other
sites' mistakenly sending core samples of enriched uranium instead of the
karaoke disks that were ordered and some of the unsuspecting customers have
gotten really bad radiation problems .

I don't know but gee I wouldn't want to risk it. :-)  (just kidding:-)

FYI - I work for the post office - I am a rural carrier - I checked with my
postmaster about the Priority shipping - she said although we say it will be
there in 2-3 days, it is not guaranteed - the only way to guarantee a speedy
delivery is with express shipping.  My discs finally arrived last Tuesday,
nearly a week after you shipped them.  I could see you did everything right
and am sorry I complained, but would like you to know you may want to inform
your customers the Priority 2'3 day shipping" is still just a maybe.

Doowop: I really can't look up an order until it is at least 10 days old. I will say that both of those disks are 'pre releases' (note the ? behind the number) That means that the disk isn't out yet.

Mark: these disks were released on 1-6-05. cancel my order, I will buy them somewhere else, PRO-SING, or direct from sound choice. I will expect a credit to my card.
(note: We don't charge any order until it is actually shipped but the customer didn't know this)

Doowop: Do me a favor. Go ahead and order one from Sound Choice and one from Pro Sing and cancel all of them but the first one. We shipped ours on the 10th. We ship these new disks the day we get them.

Mark: My original e-mail was basically to find out if it had shipped yet. I knew those disks were scheduled for a 1-6-05 release from the manufacturer. if my order has shipped, fine. oh, and keep up the fine CUSTOMER service.
 

Doowop Responce: Well the first time you asked , the paper order had not been put in the file yet. So I really didn't have any way of looking it up. The second time , I just reached over to a file next to my desk and picked it up.

As I so rudely pointed out (sooooo sorry), we usually beat all of the other sources by like 4 days . We like live and breath to get every order out the day we get it. Especially new releases. Sound choice ships the dealers one day before they ship the general public so we ship new releases the same day that they ship to the public. Also we are in Louisville Ky which is centrally located and is both a UPS and USPS hub.

Not only that but Sound Choice charges you $32.99 to ship one 8000 series disk to Ft Wayne Indiana ($26.95 + $5.95 sh) while www.doowop.com charges $9.91 less ($22.99 )

And Louisville to Ft Wayne is like one day and North Carolina ends up being "3 business days"

Buying the disk from Pro Sing Would cost $3.95 (shipping) more than www.doowop.com and take 4 days longer from Central Florida.

Last year, we had a Karaoke party and the woman running the show had this cdg with all of the songs from Shania Twain's "UP" cd.  I see that you have CKC004 which may be it.  The one we used last year sounded like the original artist though on one side.  Could that be possible?(or were the long island's just that good?) I am asking a pro because I am not even sure they make original artist cdg's. If not, it was very good.   Let me know when you get a chance.  This will be for a gift for someone. In the past, I bought several cd+gs from you, and am delighted with them, and remember your outstanding service.  Now, i am looking for more for our upcoming company picnic, and thought i would ask for some input from you, rather than grazing through every disc on eBay.  I am looking for a combination of newer songs, both pop and country, and hopefully not too involved with a lot of the standards that i probably already have.  I have found a company that will make custom cds for me, but the cost for 60 songs from them is over $70.  While that is in the price range, he is a snotty (no better word for it, sorry) little fellow, and i am not compelled to deal with him if you can help me find a larger selection in that price range that meets my criterion.  Do you have any suggestions?  Thank you very much, i look forward to hearing from you.

I don't know what is going on in the great north west but it is a hot bed of karaokic activity. Go to www.doowop.com and look at our site. We have a total of 147,000 disks with about 6000 different titles (see we have more of some titles ) . In order to promote our site, we have taken the cheapest (worst) 400 of the 6000 and put them on Ebay .

Now we learned early (as did everyone else on ebay) that most ebayonyans won't pay over like $5 for a karaoke disk. So the good disks and the song search engine is on www.doowop.com . And as an extra bonus we pay all shipping on the site. We have a machine that makes the custom disks here at the store but really I thing that you can do a lot lot better buying already made disks on www.doowop.com

Legal burned disks cost about $4 to $5 per song so in addition to being snotty , your little guy might be selling you a whole lot of trouble. And I might add disks that don't really sound right.

Well, I have a theory about why karaoke is big here.  First, we have a very large Asian population (not large Asians, just a large number of them), and with that the restaurants that offer ethnic foods, and that brings along karaoke.  Second, since karaoke is best sung in dimly lit bars, we can hang out there late at night and no one can see the rain soaked pallor of our skin, which in March is usually about fish belly white.  Catch the wrong kind on light off of my forearms right now and you will be wishing you had looked directly into the sun instead.  And, of course, we are simply easy to entertain, because unless you are outdoors here, there just ain’t much to do.  No major league baseball, our basketball team sucks, and we only have minor league hockey, which is better than no league football.  Anyway…..

I will visit the site and see what is out there.  I just don’t want to buy dupes of so many songs I already have, and want more current stuff, both in country and pop, and to not deal with snotty people.  You have made it easy for me to tell this little fellow to blow off.

Just wanted to thank you for having the Karaoke Book Maker available.  I have fussed and agonized and tried to hire someone to re-type my book.  I even spent a month (once a few years back) trying to do it myself but gave up when I was only 1/2 way through and my computer crashed, losing it all.
I received the program last week and had a complete book ready to print in less than 5 hours!!!!  It took longer to print it than to compile it.  This product is a Godsend......every KJ needs it.

Hello:

I just returned from the Post Office to pick up this CDG.  Your shipper has
labeled the package as having a value of $250.00 U.S. Dollars!  It should
have read $2.50 perhaps.  It is very clearly labeled as $250.00 (three zeros
and a decimal place between the first and second zero)!  Canada Customs
wants to charge me $50.40 to receive this disk.  They won't release the
package to me until I've paid this amount.

I would like to resolve this issue ASAP.  You could ship another CDG and
I'll refuse the original package and they should send it back to you.  Keep
in mind there is an issue with Canada Customs right now.  They were on
strike recently and there is a backlog of over 200,000 parcels from the U.S.
in Vancouver, BC waiting to be cleared by customs officials.  This could
cause a further delay (in the return of the original and the arrival of a
replacement disk).

I would like to say: Thanks DooWop! I have been a customer for about 4 yrs. now. And every order I have
received on time or before time. Great Job! Even the orders I have placed that are not available at the time I
placed the order I've had the faith that I would receive them as soon as you got them in and I did. I should be
getting one in the mail today. Because I checked with my bank and their you were and usually when you charge my
card I get the disc. that same day unless my mailman is sick or some crazy reason that is beyond your control.

One day I plan to visit your shop in person, I just live in Tennessee so your not that far away. I would just
have to leave my husband at home, so I could browse your store. LOL. But anyway keep up the Great Job you all
are doing because I am a repeat customer and when I find something that works for me (as you do) I stick with
them
And to all others out their (If your not a DooWop customer you need to be they are the best, and fastest I've
seen yet).

I'm astonished!  I apologize for giving you the wrong zip code -- that
indeed explains the problem, and it's clearly my fault.  The astonishing
thing is, the ship-to address is my partner's office address, and I've had
it wrong in my address book for *years* without ever knowing it 'til now.
I've shipped lots of things to that address over the years, and the
erroneous zip code never stopped or delayed any delivery before.  Had no
clue the post office was "forgiving" an error I never knew I was making.
Just apparently not this time!

Thank you for sending the replacement.  If I end up with two copies, I will

I said ONE store that sells karaoke products!  There is absolutely no where to walk in and play touchy-feely

with the discs or pick up an old disk.  In fact, 90% of the times that I have been there, they have not had

what I wanted unless it was brand new.  It's always..."we can order it for you" and then they never let you

know that it has come in.  In addition, they are RIDICULOUSLY expensive!!!  Your prices are great, your

selection is great, your policies are great.  Did I say that you guys are great.  Here I am praising you before

I even receive my first order.  But DArn YOU for being in Kentucky and not Jacksonville Fl.  Did you get the

hint that we need your store in Jacksonville???????

As it turns out, my wife had ordered something from you several years ago and as I was commenting on how much I

enjoyed doing business with you she replied that she didn't think that she had ever dealt with someone that was

sound good at all.   How would I return it?  Can I replace it with something else?

You know when you deal with an online company, it feels like you are just putting coins in a big vending machine. And really that is not far from the truth. But what people forget it there is some poor schmuck that spends 8 hrs a day 5 days a week (for the last 9 years I might add) answering email from people that have problems. It is rare when you get an email from a 'happy camper'

You wouldn't think that it all the negative notes would get to you but imagine eating dinner in Knoxville Tenn. wearing a University of Florida football jersey. Nobody (ok not many) people actually come up and hit you. But everyone gets in that one little nasty look, hand gesture or sideways comment. After a while it becomes the death of a thousand cuts. One nice note goes a long way . And we really appreciate it.
