FAQs
1. How much does it cost to rent?
It all depends on what you get, and how long you need it. Our minimum rental is $5 and our shortest term rental is one week. For example, a medium size PA is about $60 a week and guitars are as little as $7 a month.
2. Do I need good credit to rent?
No.
3. How much is my rent and when is it due?
Your first months rent is due when you pick up the gear. Each following month, rent will be due on the date you rented the gear. So if you pick it up on the 5th, rent will be due on the 5th of each month.
4. Why should I rent something?
Renting a killer sound system or karaoke system turns any ordinary bland get together into an unforgettable experience. Renting also allows you to play the best instruments and use the best gear without dropping hundreds or thousands of dollars. Why buy a $3000 PA to do a gig when you can rent it for only $60 and actually make some money!
5. Is it rent to own?
NO WAY! When you RTO you have to plunk down 1/3 of the value of the equipment. We are musicians too and we want you to keep your money:. We do offer financing options for those who are interested.
6. Can I reserve the equipment?
We operate on a first come first serve basis. We have so much stock you don't need to reserve anything. There are some holidays and local events that can affect availability. For example, if you are having a wedding on the weekend of the Kentucky Derby, you might want to come in 2 or 3 weeks early to get your PA.
7. Can I purchase the equipment I am renting?
You can purchase the equipment you are renting at any time. The longer you rent the gear the cheaper it is to buy.
8. Do you sell as well as rent?
We sell new and used equipment as well as quality accessories for every need.
9. Does the DOO WOP SHOP DJ or run live sound?
We provide sound equipment and instruments at ridiculously low rates so working DJs and audio professionals can make a living. We do not want to compete with our valued customers.
10. Do you do repairs?
If something goes wrong with the equipment you are renting, simply bring it in and we will exchange it on the spot, or provide a loaner as the situation warrants, at no cost to you. Exceptions to this would include damage beyond the normal scope of use evaluated based on the managers discretion.
In addition to taking care of our rental customers we also do in shop commissioned repairs on woodwind and brass instruments.
11. Why are some karaoke discs just for sale and not for rent?
We have over 140,000 karaoke discs in stock. 56,000 of these are avlaible for rental. We do not rent all of the discs because of the difficult logistics that such a goal would entail. The discs that we rent are chosen with the aim of providing our rental customers with the highest sound quality available. We strive to offer the best products for rentals.
12. Do you give lessons?
We offer lessons in Guitar, Bass, Drums, Piano, Voice, and more at all 4 locations. Call your local Doo Wop for specific info and rates.
13. Do you buy or sell music CDs and records?
We offer karaoke discs but we do not carry the "by artist" tracks that you hear on the radio.
